NVR (Network Video Recorder) sendiri merupakan perangkat elektronik yang tersambung ke kamera CCTV melalui kabel jaringan LAN secara terpusat. Alat perekaman NVR berbasis protokol internet. Pada umumnya bagi yang menggunakan NVR sudah pasti menggunakan jenis CCTV IP Camera dan memakai kabel jenis Belden (LAN) dan konektor RJ 45 dimana biaya untuk kabel terbilang lebih murah apabila dibandingkan dengan menggunakan kamera analog yang harus menggunakan kabel coaxial untuk keperluan pemasangannya.
Pada setiap perangkat NVR memiliki web interface (Antar muka) yang memiliki fungsi untuk memudahkan pengguna melakukan pengaturan seperti membuat user login tersendiri tidak jauh berbeda dengan DVR. namun apabila dibandingkan dari segi harga NVR terbilang cukup mahal dari DVR, untuk penggunaan hunian rumah, apartemen atau toko-toko kecil memang lebih cocok apabila menggunakan kamera CCTV analog dan DVR daripada menggunakan Kamera IP dan NVR.
